Engineers have to consider several parameters to select the appropriate pressure sensor. The desired media of measurement as well as the pressure range has to be determined to begin the sourcing process. All Sensors employs a MEMS pieazoresistive technology housed in a plastic package. Our pressure sensors (transducers) are designed for dry air and gas with a focus on low pressure applications where accuracy and repeatability is a benefit to the customer. Any harsh media or high pressure range will require an engineer to source a more robust package such as a stainless steel device. HVAC ranges from residential furnaces used to heat your home to large complex, computer driven systems to heat and cool large buildings and business campuses. Pressure sensors are one of many components used to make these systems work correctly and efficiently.

In today’s world environmentally friendly HVAC systems are more important than ever. The more efficient a system can heat and cool a building, the less powder it will consume doing so. This both saves power which is better for the environment, but also saves the homeowner or business owner money which can then be used for other household or business related expenses. Pressure sensors play a key role in making these systems more efficient by measuring air flow and pressure throughout a system. By measuring pressure of individual rooms and monitoring the air flow to each room, the HVAC system can make adjustments to how it cools and heats a building. The delivering and removal of air from one room to another is known as room air distribution.
